Description
The watch house, dated 1821, is located in the Recreation Ground next to number 70 on St Marychurch Street. It is built from yellow stock brick and features a stone-coped parapet and plinth, with a lower lean-to slate roof at the back. The building is single-storey and has three bays facing the street. The wider central entrance is flanked by two small window openings, all featuring stone sills and gauged brick segmental arches. There are square sunk panels beside a plaque above the entrance, which includes an inscription about the burial ground on the right side. The interior has not been inspected. This watch house forms a pair with a matching engine house, and both buildings are positioned at the street front of the former burial ground, which is now a park.
