Description
The entrance to the Woolwich Pedestrian Tunnel, built between 1910 and 1912, is designed by engineer Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice. This rotunda structure is made of red brick with a blue brick plinth. It features paired sash windows set beneath segmental arches within square recessed panels. A stone cornice and a panelled stone coped parapet add to its architectural detail. The conical roof is topped with a circular lantern. The entrances are canopied and supported by cast iron columns with foliated capitals, complemented by decorative bargeboards. Wrought iron grilles are present on the windows.
