Description
The Thomas Cribb Monument, located in the churchyard to the north-east of the Church of St Mary with St Anne, is a Grade II listed structure from the mid-19th century. This monument commemorates Thomas Cribb, a notable pugilist. It features a life-size stone lion positioned on a plinth designed to resemble tumbled rocks. The lion is depicted in an adoring pose, with its eyes turned upwards and its right paw resting on an urn. The urn is inscribed with the words "Sacred to the Memory of Thomas Cribb Born July 8 1781 Died May 11 1848," adding to the monument's curiosity value.
