Description
The Royal Albert Public House is a mid-19th century building of three storeys and three windows, originally numbered 450 New Cross Road, now 460. The exterior is stuccoed with rusticated quoins. The building features an entablature with a modillion cornice and a parapet raised centrally to accommodate a name panel. The second-floor sash windows are set within shouldered moulded architraves and keystones. Incised tympana are visible within the round architraves of the first-floor sash windows. Composite pilasters divide rounded bays on the ground floor, which contain engraved glass with iron top grilles and panelled stall risers. A recessed double door with engraved glass is located on the left, alongside a low window framed by bulbous granite pilasters supporting cornice brackets and a Tudor arch with pierced carved spandrels below the fascia board. The west return is in a similar style, but the first floor is blank except for a large framed name panel.
