Description
The Police Station on Amersham Vale, built in 1912, is a three-storey building with a basement, featuring six irregularly placed windows. It is designed in a modified neo-classical style, characterized by a high-pitched tiled roof with overhanging eaves and end chimneys. The building is constructed of dull red brick with bright red brick dressings, including gauged brick window arches that extend to form bands, banding on angle pilasters, and moulded and dentilled cornices. There are blocking courses above two round, two-storey bow windows located in the left bay and the second bay from the right, each containing three sash windows with glazing bars on each floor. The second-floor windows are two-light. Access to the building is via eight steps leading to a round-arched entrance, which features a keystone and is framed by a moulded architrave and a cornice of raised surround, all made from carved red brick. The entrance is complemented by a handsome wrought iron handrail and area railings, which enclose a white stone on a high plinth, displaying the date "1912" and a lamp holder made of cast and wrought iron above.
