Description

Eliot Lodge is a picturesque building in the Tudor style, dating from the mid to late 19th century and built in the elaborate style of George Devey. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and has five bays on its main north front. It is constructed of red brick with decorative patterns using pale grey headers, and has freestone dressings. The steeply pitched roof is slate-covered, with numerous gables and several rows of chimney shafts featuring cornices with multiple angles. The front facade has been altered with projections both forward and back. A half-octagonal projection with a hipped roof and dormers in each face is located in the second bay from the left. A slim, octagonal tower with a spire covered in fishscale slates projects from the right angle. A single-storey projecting bay on the right return has a parapet with quatrefoil panels. Additions have also been made to the south and east sides of the building.
