Description
This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of houses located on New Cross Road. The terrace consists of numbers 207 to 219 (odd) and is built of yellow brick with a stucco frieze, cornice, and blocking course. Each house stands three storeys high with a basement, and originally had three windows. Houses numbers 207 and 219 have two-storey, one-window recessed entrance extensions. The first and second floors feature sash windows with glazing bars, each with a gauged flat brick arch above. A cill band runs along the second floor. A continuous balcony with cast iron railing and brackets extends along the front of the terrace. The first-floor centre window is distinguished by a stucco moulded architrave, console-bracketed cornice, and a pediment. The ground floor sash windows and the doors, which are of four panels with a plain fanlight, are similarly topped with gauged round brick arches and a stucco impost string. A small entrance terrace is accessed by four steps, with stuccoed walls, and the front features cast iron area railings. Numbers 207 to 219 form a notable group.
