Description
This is a row of early to mid-19th century villas, numbers 10 to 18, situated on Belmont Hill. The row comprises twelve villas, each two storeys high with a basement, and each featuring three windows. The villas are linked by low walls. They have moderately pitched hipped roofs covered in slate, with wide eaves soffits. A stucco cill band runs along the first floor, above stuccoed basement walls constructed from multicoloured stock brick. Sash windows with glazing bars are set within stucco-lined reveals, with rounded brick arches above them. The doors are made of six fielded panels, each topped with a simple, segmental fanlight, set within segmental arched recesses. Number 10 has four steps leading up to the doorway, with a wrought iron railing. Villas number 12 and 14 both feature prostyle porches, consisting of square columns with balustraded sides. The roof of number 16 has been replaced with modern pantiles. Villas numbers 6 to 18 (even) are considered to form a cohesive group.
