Description

The Clock Tower, built in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee, is a Grade II listed structure located on Lewisham High Street. It is constructed from Portland stone and features three stages topped by a spire. The lowest stage serves as a plinth with a round-arched doorway. The middle stage displays two long round-arched sunk panels on each side. The third stage is adorned with four clock faces set within keyed circular architraves. The tower has octagonal angles that rise to form corner turrets, each topped with ball finials, and these turrets are connected by flying buttresses to the squat spire, which is crowned at the top.
