West Norwood Memorial Park Js Schilizzi Mausoleum In South East Corner Of The Greek Burial Ground

The J.S. Schilizzi mausoleum is a classical chamber mausoleum located in the southeast corner of the Greek Burial Ground within West Norwood Memorial Park. Built in the late 19th century by an unknown designer, it is constructed of marble and features a tall rectangular chamber with battered sides set on a stepped plinth. The entrance has a Vitruvian opening with an architraved surround, adorned with paterae and a three-panel carved overlight, topped by a cornice hood supported by console brackets. The mausoleum is accessed through elaborate double open ironwork doors. Above the entrance, there is a projecting eaves cornice and frieze with two paterae, while the pediment is inscribed and features antefixae and a cross, with an additional pediment at the rear.
