Description
The Gresham Almshouses, built in 1882, are a one-storey range constructed of red brick with stone dressings and high-pitched tiled roofs. The building features projecting square bay windows with hipped roof projections, which alternate with paired entrances that consist of round-arched doors set back in porches. These porches have paired round-arched openings with impost blocks, moulded architraves, and keystones, topped by a brick parapet. The roof is adorned with tall ridge stacks and stone-coped dividing walls that have ball finials. Additionally, a variety of ornamental terra-cotta finials, some featuring wolves' masks, decorate the roof ridge and hip ends. The structure also has a stone-coped plinth.
