Description
St Mark's Church of England Junior Mixed and Infants Schools, built in 1824, is a symmetrical two-storey building with a three-window center and one-storey side pavilions. Constructed from stock brick, the central block features a stone band at the first floor cill, an entablature, and a raised blocking course inscribed with "KENNINGTON SCHOOLS." The building has gauged brick arches over sash windows with margin lights; the ground floor windows are round and set in round-arched recesses, while the center window is blocked. The entrance links to the side pavilions are marked by stucco pilasters and an entablature, with the pavilions themselves having segmental gauged brick arches over sash windows with glazing bars in segment-headed recesses. Above the central arch is an oval plaque, now illegible, that originally bore the date of 1860.
