Description
Flint Cottage is a mid-19th century cottage that stands two storeys high with a basement. It features one wide gabled bay that faces the road and a narrower entrance bay that is set back. The walls are constructed of knapped flint, accented with yellow brick dressings and quoins. The roofs are slated, adorned with moulded wood eaves cornices and carved, pierced bargeboards. The windows are one-bar casements with stone lintels and cills. On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window topped with a hipped slate roof. The entrance includes a four-panel door that is half-glazed and features a leaded fanlight, all sheltered by a hipped quadrant canopy at the angle. This cottage is notable for its use of vernacular materials in a town setting.
