Description

This is a symmetrical terrace of houses located at 2-58 Ovington Street, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The terrace is constructed of yellow brick with stucco dressings, and comprises two storeys and a basement. The houses are generally two windows wide, with four central houses and those at each end slightly projecting, featuring paired projecting porches supported by antae. Other houses have pilastered porches. Many of the original doors remain. The windows are square-headed, with gauged arches above stucco architraves, and feature sash windows with margin glazing. Decorative stucco cornices, parapets, and openwork balustrades are present, though some have been damaged. Certain houses have unfortunately been altered with the addition of attic storeys. Cast iron railings with spearheads define the area and window guards are also present. The terrace is listed as part of a pair of matching terraces, situated within a spacious layout and closing the view to Milner Street to the south.
