Description
This is a symmetrical terrace of houses numbered 1 to 57, located on Ovington Street in London, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of yellow brick with stucco dressings. It comprises two storeys and a basement, with each house originally designed to have two windows across the front. The central four houses, and those at each end of the terrace, project slightly forward, featuring paired projecting porches with antae. The remaining houses have pilastered porches. Many of the original doors remain in place. The windows are square-headed with gauged arches above and stucco architraves below. They are sash windows with margin glazing. The building retains stucco cornices, parapets, and openwork balustrades, although some of the balustrades have been damaged. Some houses have had unfortunate attic storeys added. A pediment is present over the central houses, indicated by the blocking course. The terrace has cast iron spear-headed area railings and window guards. It is listed as one of two matching terraces positioned in a spacious layout, with No. 10 Milner Street terminating the view to the south.
