Description

The Tomb of John Thompson, who died in 1843, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It is constructed from Portland stone and Carrara marble. The tomb features twin projecting aedicules on quoined bases, which are connected by a central bay that has an inscription panel. Each aedicule contains a niche with plinths; the western aedicule is inscribed with "TEMPUS FUGIT" and the eastern one with "MEMENTO MORI." This memorial is noted for its architectural design and is an example of late Neo-classical style.
