Description

The Tomb of Sir Richard Mayne, who lived from 1786 to 1868 and was the founding commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. This monument was erected by the Metropolitan Police. It features a pink Peterhead granite obelisk that stands on an inscribed podium, which is above a two-stage base made of grey granite. This is a prominent and large-scale monument, notable for being the tallest obelisk in the cemetery, second only to one other.
