Description
The Tomb of Mary Anne Susan Ross, located in Kensal Green Cemetery, is a Grade II listed mausoleum built in the 19th century. It was constructed in memory of Mary Anne Susan Ross, who died in 1868. The mausoleum features a Gothic design made of Bath stone, adorned with Portland statuettes and Serpentine shafts.
The west elevation includes a blocked arched doorcase beneath a cinquefoil panel that displays an armorial achievement in mosaic, accompanied by the motto "THINK ON." The side walls are divided into three bays, each featuring a gabled opening with paired lancet windows that are currently blocked. These are supported by Serpentine shafts and are situated above lower openings that contain inscription panels made of green granite, all set beneath a depressed arch. Each bay is separated by small buttresses topped with finials shaped like angels, although some of these are missing.
On the north wall, there is a blocked arched window made up of two lancets, also supported by Serpentine shafts, above another lower opening with an inscription panel. The gable of this wall features a cinquefoil panel that is inset with marble. Inside the mausoleum, there are remnants of stencilled decoration.
