Description
The Sir William Molesworth Mausoleum is a Grade II listed structure located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It was built to commemorate Sir William Molesworth, who died in 1855. The mausoleum is constructed from grey granite and features a shallow pyramidal roof. Steps lead down to the entrance, which is currently blocked. Sir William Molesworth was a Radical Member of Parliament, a colonial reformer, and a contemporary of J.S. Mill. The epitaph on the mausoleum highlights his commitment to his beliefs, stating, "A firm adherence to convictions the result of deep thought won for him the title of an honest statesman." Additionally, his widow, Lady Andalusia, a prominent figure in Victorian society, is also buried here.
