Description

The tomb of Thomas Daniell, Royal Academician, who passed away in 1840, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It features a tomb chest made of Portland stone, with paired pilasters at each corner and fielded panels on the sides and end. Daniell was renowned for his paintings of Indian scenes and for promoting the Indian Style. The inscription on the tomb notes that he was "distinguished in art by the natural beauty and graceful representation of his oriental scenes which realised to the imagination the splendour of British India."
