Description

Kensington Palace is a royal palace originally built in 1661 for Sir Heneage Finch, the first Earl of Nottingham. It was purchased by William III in 1689 and renamed Kensington House. Between 1689 and 1695, new buildings were constructed by Sir Christopher Wren. Further alterations and additions were made from 1718 to 1726, including the design of the State Rooms by William Kent.
