Description

The building at 1 Kensington High Street is a late 19th-century bank, dated 1885, constructed in red brick with red sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It is designed in a Late Gothic Revival style, with a five-window wide facade. The building is three storeys high with a dormer window and features a tower to the left and a stepped gable to the right. The main entrance is on the left-hand side and features ground and first-floor windows that are square-headed with mullions and transoms. Second and third-floor windows are ogee-headed. A spire rises from the tower, topped with a lead crocketed finial. The entrance itself is ogee-headed and features richly carved pilasters. The original door remains in place.
