Description
The tomb of Walter Peart and Henry Dean is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It commemorates Walter Peart, a train driver, and Henry Dean, his fireman, both of whom died in 1898. The tomb features a headstone made of Carrara marble, which includes an inset relief of a train set over branches of bay and is topped with a moulded hood. The monument was restored and the plaque was renewed in 1994. Additionally, there are feigned railway tracks over the coping above the grave. This memorial was erected by the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants in honor of Peart and Dean, who lost their lives while attempting to save passengers during the explosion of the boiler on the Paddington-Windsor Express.
