Description
The Chelsea Public Library, now part of Chelsea College, is a college annexe that was originally built as a public library in 1890, designed by architect J M Brydon. The building has three storeys and features five windows with two sashes. The recessed wings are each one window wide. It is constructed of red brick and stone, with round-headed windows on the ground floor that have rusticated surrounds. The first floor windows are also round-headed and have stone relieving arches, which contain square-headed openings in brick with prominent keystones. The building is topped with a hipped, pantiled roof and has a tall chimney on each side. A stone Ionic semi-circular porch adds to its architectural character.
