Description

The tomb of the Rev. Sydney Smith, who died in 1845, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It features a sarcophagus made of Portland stone, with plain angle pilasters and a pedimented cover. Sydney Smith was known for his sharp wit, his affiliation with the Whig party, and his contributions to literature, as well as his involvement in the movement for Catholic emancipation.
