Description

The Mausoleum of Captain George Aikman, built in 1844, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery and was designed by the architect John Griffith. It is constructed from Portland stone and features a pedimented front with a stone-blocked door that has an inscription situated between fluted Doric columns. The frieze above includes wreaths, and the structure is topped with a stone roof adorned with antefixes. This mausoleum also commemorates Colonel Robert Aikman, a Victoria Cross recipient and hero of the Indian Mutiny.
