Former fire station. 1892. Red brick; red sandstone dressings. Four storeys and two storeys in roof. Four main bays. Central two storey gable with date in wrought iron ties. Two central doorways for engines, segmental heads, probably original doors. Mullions and transoms to ground and 1st floor windows, with pediments, bearing tools of the fireman's trade in relief. Buttresses between capped by bells. Sashed windows above, with applied pilasters. Cornice, tiled mansard and gables. Tall chimneys to sides. Cupola of timber and lead to centre topped by ball and spike. Inclusion of fire-fighting symbols of particular interest.
