Description

The former fire station is a three-storey building constructed of yellow brick, featuring red brick string courses and arches, along with some stone dressings and sills. It has a hipped slate roof. The façade is divided into three bays, each containing two windows, separated by pilaster strips. The top floor features horned sash windows with square heads supported by stone lintels, while the first floor has horned sash windows with red brick arches. On the ground floor, there are three broad segmental red brick arches with stone springers and keystones. The left archway includes an entrance door with glazing above and to the right, while the other arches were originally vehicular entrances but are now glazed.

At the rear, there is an elaborate square practice and look-out tower made of yellow brick, accented with some red brick banding and stone dressings. This tower has two windows on each face, also articulated by pilaster strips. It features a lead pavilion roof with a railed look-out platform. The top stage of the tower has two oculi on each face, positioned between cornices. The tower consists of four stages with louvred openings, and there is an iron fire escape on the west side.
