Description
This is a single terraced house, built around 1766 and altered subsequently. It was designed by J Pocock, the architect, and constructed by B Williams for D Harrison and J Davis. The house is constructed of brown brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with the roof not visible. It follows a sidehall entrance plan and is three storeys high with a basement, originally containing windows for two rooms. A flight of steps leads to the entrance on the right side, featuring a doorway with pilaster surrounds and a corniced head. The doorway has a blocked fanlight and a 20th-century panelled door. The ground floor has 6/6 sash windows set within a gauged-brick arched recess. Above, gauged-brick flat arches feature over the upper floor sashes; the first-floor windows are full-height 6/6 sashes with iron balconies, while the second-floor windows are 2/2 sashes. The house is approached from a terrace with cast-iron railings. It was originally part of a larger 18th-century terrace, of which only a portion remains.
