Description

A terrace of six houses built around 1830 in Barnsbury Street, Islington. The houses are constructed of stock brick with slate roofs, and are three storeys high plus a basement. Nos. 12-16 have stuccoed ground floors. Each house has a two-window front. The windows are predominantly 6/6 or 2/2 sash windows. No. 6 has a fanlight above its entrance. Nos. 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 have original cast-iron balconies to their first-floor windows, along with square-headed doorways - No. 8 has a Tuscan door frame, and Nos. 10, 12, 14, and 16 have plain arched doorways. Cast-iron railings with finials run along the front. The terrace forms part of a significant group of similar buildings and is designated for group value.
