Description

'The Neighbours' is a figurative sculpture located at Highbury Quadrant Estate. It was commissioned in 1957 and unveiled in 1959, created by the sculptor Siegfried Charoux for the London County Council on the recommendation of the Arts Council. The sculpture is made of cemented iron and stands four feet high. It features two figures that are realistically portrayed while also embodying an idealistic representation of the 'working man'. This strong and humane depiction is well-suited to its surroundings and showcases the diverse patronage of the London County Council.
