Description

Numbers 29-41 (odd) and attached railings are a group of terraced houses built between 1830 and 1835. They are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco finishes. The roof is concealed behind a parapet. The houses are four storeys high, with a basement, and each has two windows.

The basement and ground floor are stuccoed, with the ground floor decorated with chamfered rustication. Steps lead to a round-arched entrance featuring cabled and fluted pilasters supporting a cornice, above which is a fanlight with decorative glazing. The entrance has panelled doors of an original design. The ground-floor windows are round-arched, set within recessed round-arched panels of plain stucco, and have sashes with pointed-arched glazing bars and margin lights to numbers 29-33. A broad storey band runs horizontally across the facade. The upper-floor windows are flat-arched; those on the first floor have moulded stucco architraves with cornices and individual iron balconies. The second-floor windows also have moulded stucco architraves. The third-floor windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads. Throughout the houses, the windows are six-over-six sashes of an original design. A parapet tops the building. Cast-iron railings are present to the steps and as area railings, with ball and disc finials.
