Description
Numbers 77 to 87 (odd) and attached railings are a group of terraced houses dating from circa 1828-30. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond, with stucco detailing, and have a roof hidden by a parapet. The houses are three storeys high, with a basement level, and each has two windows. The basement and ground floors of numbers 77 to 9 feature stucco banding; a stucco storey band runs across all the properties. The entrances are round-arched with fluted quarter-columns, except number 79, and have cornices and fanlights with decorative glazing, although numbers 83 and 87 lack decorative glazing in the fanlight. The entrances retain panelled doors of their original design. Upper-floor windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads; the first-floor windows of numbers 81 to 7 are set within recessed round-arched panels. All upper floors have 6/6 sashes of their original design, while the ground floor windows of numbers 81 to 3 have sashes with radiating glazing bars. A brick band is present below the parapet, and stacks are located within the party walls. Cast-iron railings are attached to the area.
