Description

A row of thirteen terraced houses built around 1825 to 1828. The houses are constructed of multi-coloured stock bricks in a Flemish bond pattern, with simple stucco dressings. Number 118 has a banded stucco finish. The roofs are hidden by a parapet, with brick party-wall stacks. The houses are three storeys high, with two windows each. They follow a side-hall entrance plan, although number 118 also has a house entrance facing Cloudsley Square.

Low steps lead to the entrance in the left bay. The doorways have jambs resembling columns, although number 118 lacks these columns and number 124 has vertical panels instead. A corniced head tops a panelled door, which is a twentieth-century replacement in numbers 118, 136, 138, 140, and 142. Above is a plain fanlight, patterned in numbers 126 and 130.

The ground floor has gauged-brick round arches over 1/1 sash windows. Number 122 has 2/2 sashes, number 124 has 6/6 sashes, number 128 has 4/3 sashes with curved and radial glazing bars, and numbers 140-142 have 1/2 sashes. The upper floors have gauged-brick flat arches, except for number 118, which has been altered or rebuilt. The windows on the upper floors are a mix of sashes; numbers 118 to 122, 128 to 138, and 142 have 2/2 sashes. Number 124 has a 9/9 sash on the first floor and a 6/6 sash on the second. Number 126 has a 2/2 sash on the first floor and a 1/1 sash on the second. Number 140 has a 2/2 sash on the first floor and a 6/6 sash on the second.

The first floor has a stucco sill band to the full-length sashes, set in arched recesses linked by stucco impost bands. Individual cast-iron balconies with spiderweb pattern railings are present. The houses have a plain brick parapet topped with stone coping.
