Description

Numbers 62 and 64 on King's Cross Road are two houses that form part of a terrace built in the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed from yellow stock bricks arranged in Flemish bond, with stucco detailing on the basement, the ground-floor entrance bay of number 64, and stucco sill bands on the upper floors. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet, with an end-wall stack on the right side.

Both houses are three storeys high with a basement and feature two windows each. Number 64 has a full-height entrance bay that is set back, with gauged-brick flat arches over blind windows on the upper floors. Access to the entrance is via steps leading to the left bay, which has a segmental arched doorway for number 62 and a canted arched doorway for number 64. The entrance to number 64 includes pilaster jambs that support a corniced head, a plain fanlight, and a 20th-century door.

The ground-floor windows have gauged-brick segmental arches, with number 62 featuring 1-over-1 sashes and number 64 having a 20th-century sash set within a segmental arched recess. On the first floor, number 62 has gauged-brick flat arches above full-height 6-over-6 sashes, while number 64 has a gauged-brick segmental arch over a 20th-century sash in a segmental arched recess on the right side. The second floor of number 62 has gauged-brick flat arches above 3-over-3 sashes, and number 64 has a gauged-brick segmental arch over a 20th-century sash in a segmental arched recess on the right side.

The brick parapets feature quasi-triglyph decoration on number 62, topped with stone coping. Number 64 is complemented by attached iron railings.
