Description

A group of terraced houses located in Skinner Street, Islington, dating from the mid-18th century. They are built of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing, and have mansard roofs covered with artificial slate. The houses are arranged as four storeys, with three windows per property. The ground floor, first floor, and second floor windows are characterized by flat-arched heads constructed of gauged red brick; the window sash boxes have been replaced and are nearly flush with the walls of numbers 35-39 and 45. The plinth and door surrounds are stuccoed and have been altered to feature round arches, simple doorcases, fanlights, and panelled doors. A parapet tops the buildings, and each house has two dormer windows in the mansard roof. Chimney stacks are located on the party walls between the houses. The entire group of houses has undergone significant rebuilding.
