Description
These are a group of terraced houses built around 1825 as part of a development by Richard Laycock. The houses are constructed of yellow-brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing and roofs of Welsh and artificial slate. There are two storeys, with two windows each, except for number 29, which is double-fronted and has three windows. The ground-floor windows have round arches with gauged brick detailing. The entrances feature fluted columns, cornices, and fanlights; the fanlights are missing from numbers 23 and 29. Numbers 28 and 29 have panelled doors. The upper-floor windows are flat-arched and have gauged brick heads, with 6/6 sash windows to numbers 23-28. Numbers 26 and 27 have moulded stucco architraves. A parapet runs along the top of the buildings. Party walls project, carrying stacks; the stacks for numbers 23-5 have been rebuilt as double arched. The rear of number 29 has been substantially altered.
