Description

Ireton House and 106A, located on Highgate Hill, is an early 18th-century pair of buildings that may have a 17th-century core. Each building has three stories and an attic, featuring three windows. They have a high-pitched tiled roof, although there are intrusive modern dormers. The exterior is made of red brick, highlighted by a moulded and dentilled brick cornice and a low stone-coped parapet. The replaced sash windows are topped with gauged segmental brick arches that have keystones. The buildings also feature 19th-century four-panel doors set in panelled reveals, with Roman Doric doorcases that include a triglyph frieze, dentilled cornice, and pediment.

Inside, the buildings retain early 18th-century panelling and staircases, along with likely late 17th-century features, such as the ceiling in the first-floor front room of No. 108. Ireton House and 106A are part of a group that includes No. 104 (Cromwell House), as well as Nos 106, 106A, 108, and 110, along with their walls and gates, and No. 112.
