Description

The building at 21-35 Northchurch Terrace comprises four early to mid-19th century pairs of houses, each designed with two storeys and a basement, and featuring two windows. The roofs are low-pitched and slate-covered, with visible eaves soffits and a central chimney stack. The construction is predominantly stock brick with a stuccoed basement. The windows are mainly sash windows with glazing bars, although some have casements with margin lights, all set within moulded architraves. A run of six steps, accompanied by cast iron railings, leads to four-panel doors – some of which have been altered – each framed by a moulded architrave and topped with a cornice and a small rectangular fanlight. A decorative frieze of paterae and console brackets supports the cornice above the doors and the ground floor windows. Most ground floor windows have ornamental cast iron window guards. Nos 1 to 15 (odd) form a visually cohesive group.
