Description

West Hackney House is an early 20th-century range of almshouses located on the north side of Northwold Road. The building is arranged over two storeys and comprises seven bays. The central and end bays project and are topped with gables, while the inner bays are recessed, featuring a Tudor arched ground floor loggia. The roof is slate-covered. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, and incorporates 2- and 3-light casement windows with stone mullions and surrounds, along with hoodmoulds over the open arches. A wider central bay, designed to resemble a chapel, features a large, traceried window in a Tudor style, below which is a plaque inscribed "WEST HACKNEY HOUSE".
