Description
Nos 91 to 101 on Worship Street, built in 1862 by Philip Webb, are a row of shops with dwellings above. The buildings are three storeys tall with an attic, featuring three windows on the second floor and two windows together on the first floor. They have very high pitched tiled roofs with dividing walls, each topped with a tall hipped gabled dormer that has an oversailing gable end, and the height is accentuated by ridge stacks. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with a brick dentil cornice and a stone blocking course. The second-floor windows have continuous lintel and cill bands, while the first-floor windows are segment-headed with triangular impost blocks linking the heads, all beneath a pointed relieving arch. The ground floor shops project under a pent tiled roof, with small parted windows and set back doors. To the right of No 91, there is a carriageway under a shallow pointed arch. Additionally, a Gothic drinking fountain made of stone and marble is incorporated into the southeast angle of No 101. Nos 91 to 105 form a group.
