Nos. 4, 4A, and 5 Middle Street are a pair of similar houses dating from the earlier 19th century. The houses are constructed of pinkish-yellow stock brick, arranged over four storeys, with a single window on each front. The ground floor features doors and shopfronts, with timber pilasters and fascia. The first, second, and third floors contain wide, segmental-headed tripartite windows. There's a narrow recessed brick panel at the party wall. The building is finished with a brick parapet.
