Description
39 and 40 Cloth Fair are a pair of houses, likely from the 18th century, but featuring an exterior that has been stuccoed in the early to mid-19th century. The buildings rise three storeys and include a slated mansard roof. They have a simply pilastered shop front and two pedimented first-floor windows with three lights each. Above these are corniced windows, and the buildings are topped with a crowning cornice and blocking. There is a short stuccoed return to the east, while the rear is made of plain yellow brick and varies between one and four storeys. These houses are included for their group value.
