Description
The National Westminster Bank, located at 133 and 134 Aldersgate Street, is a late 19th-century building featuring three storeys and an attic. It showcases a style rich in Italianate detail, constructed from stone. The ground floor is marked by attached Doric columns on pedestals and a splayed corner with a round-headed door. Above, there is a semi-circular stone balcony with a shell soffit. The first-floor windows are adorned with entablatures supported by attached Ionic columns, while the second-floor windows feature segmental pediments on Corinthian pilasters. The building also has balustraded balconies on console brackets, a carved frieze, and a bracketed cornice, culminating in a balustraded parapet and inset stone dormers with triangular pediments. The roof is a slated mansard style.
