Description
Blackfriars House is a commercial building located on New Bridge Street, constructed between 1913 and 1916 by architect F. W. Troup. This seven-storey structure features a steel frame and is faced with white majolica. The facade showcases a rectilinear structural grid, which is divided in a classical style. The ground storey is plain and includes iron railings with stone standards for the area. From the first to the fourth storeys, there are paired windows separated by slender, panelled pilaster strips topped with plain capital blocks. The central section has iron-railed balconies supported by brackets, along with lamp standards. The fifth and sixth storeys each contain two windows per bay, featuring a bracketed cornice and a balustraded parapet. The attics have been altered.
