Description
29 Martin Lane, built in 1853 by architect John Davies, was constructed on the site of St Martin Orgar as a rectory, incorporating the tower into the house. The building is made of red brick with painted stucco dressings and quoins, designed in a modified late 17th century to early 18th century style. It features three storeys plus a basement. The ground floor has an arched porch in stucco and round-headed windows with stucco architraves. The upper floor includes sash windows with stucco surrounds and a parapet at the roofline. A two-storey canted bay window, facing the churchyard, has stucco dressings and pilasters that support an entablature. The tower is divided into three plain stages, with windows facing the churchyard, topped by a crowning cornice and parapet with a blocking course. A large wooden bracketed clock with a segmental pediment, dated 1853, faces Martin Lane. The property is enclosed by cast iron railings with spearhead finials.
