Description
Amen Court EC4 features a row of houses numbered 4 to 9, including 8A and 8B, built in 1879 and 1880, possibly by Ewan Christian. This picturesque range of houses is designed in a free, early 17th-century style and encloses the north and east sides of the court, with an arch beneath No 8A. The buildings have three main storeys plus a basement and an additional storey in the roof. They are constructed of red brick, adorned with moulded bands and gables, and include a tower at No 6. The roofs are slated and feature prominent chimney stacks. Notable architectural details include 'shell' doorhoods made of terra cotta.
