Description

The Midland Bank, located at 45 and 47 Ludgate Hill, is a corner building completed in 1891 by architect T F Colcutt. It is designed in a modified 16th-century Flemish style, featuring pale red brick and pink terra cotta. The ground floor has arched openings made of grey granite, and the building has a tiled roof. It stands four storeys tall, with a canted corner entrance that has a hood above it. There is a polygonal turret topped with a copper dome, and gables are present on both the front and the return. The rear of the building has been reduced in height to two and three storeys.
