Description
The Watch House and attached lamp is an end of terrace house that was formerly a police watch house, built around 1830 and altered since. It is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, with the ground floor painted. The building has three storeys, attics, and a semi-basement that was formerly used as cells. The main entrance is located on the left-hand return to Holly Berry Lane and features two windows. The entrance has a round arch with pilasters that support an enriched head adorned with a lion mask, a radial fanlight, and a panelled door. The windows are recessed 20th-century casements with cast-iron guards. On the Holly Place facade, there are segmental-arched casements with cast-iron guards on the ground and third floors, along with a balcony on the second floor. The interior has not been inspected. A notable feature is the attached Windsor lantern on a simple T-bracket on the Holly Berry Lane facade. Historically, the building was used by the newly formed police force from 1830 to 1834.
