Description
Numbers 1 to 4 and attached railings form a terrace of four houses built around 1816, which constitute the southern wing of a semi-formal layout, with St Mary's Roman Catholic Church as its central feature. The houses are stucco-fronted, except for the upper floor of Number 4, which is made of multi-coloured stock brick. A stucco band marks the first floor. Number 1 projects to form an end wing with a curved angle on the left. Numbers 1 to 3 each have a single window fronting the street, while Number 4 has two. Each house has round-arched entrances, with Number 1’s entrance set into the angled corner, all incorporating fanlights and part-glazed doors; Number 4 features an early 19th century part-glazed porch. The windows are recessed sash windows, with the first-floor windows of Numbers 1 to 3 being round-arched, and all windows of Number 4 having gauged brick flat arches. All first-floor windows are fitted with cast-iron guards. The houses are topped with parapets. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached to the front are cast-iron railings featuring pineapple finials, some supported by low stuccoed walls.
